The Max Planck Society operates a semiconductor laboratory for the development and production of particle and radiation detectors that are used to carry out scientific experiments in the fields of astrophysics, particle physics, materials science and research with photons. The laboratory boasts state-of-the-art facilities for the design, simulation, production and testing of silicon detectors. 

For our laboratory in Neuperlach / Munich, we are looking for an experienced

Systems and Network Administrator (m/f/d)

Code HLL 2/2020

Your fields of work will include:

  • Supervision of the IT infrastructure at the semiconductor laboratory with workstation computers and computers for controlling systems using the Windows, Linux and Apple operating systems
  • Securing proper operation of the overall IT-system, including the elimination of any problems that may arise
  • Network-structure administration in compliance with IT security requirements as well as network-performance monitoring
  • Advice and support for users

Your profile:

  • Completed IT specialist training or comparable training with at least three years of professional experience
  • Very good skills in the installation, configuration and maintenance of Windows Server 2016 and VMWare (VMWare ESXi 6.5/6.7, vCenter)
  • Good skills in the installation, configuration and maintenance of Linux servers based on CentOS 6 & 7
  • Good skills in networking (LAN/WAN), monitoring and backup as well as experience with storage hardware
  • Experience with firewall and security systems (firewalls, such as PaloAlto for example)
  • Service orientation, analytical thinking, the ability to work independently and in teams as well as a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Very good German and English skills (spoken and written)
